With commanding views of the Golden Gate, San Francisco Bay, and Alcatraz, this spacious San Francisco residence boasts four stories of living space, a grand spiral stair, and large decks front and back. The traditional design relies on modern structural technology. Extensive detailing was developed to support the exterior façade features such as cornices and overhangs. The steeply sloping site required an aggressive foundation system relying on drilled concrete piers, grade beams and structural slabs. The architectural program required that the floor assemblies be minimized while still maintaining very strict deflection and vibration criteria.
