NAPA RESIDENCE
Napa, California
This highly innovative Napa Valley home was designed around an old wood barn structure found by the architects after long searching in the Midwest. The barn was disassembled and shipped to California, and each of the many timber members was catalogued and inspected. A schedule of repair and remediation was prepared, and the architectural and structural design incorporated the barn structure into the new home. The structure also includes concrete and steel elements, as well as extensive new timber and lumber framing, some of which remain exposed.
