MARIN HORIZON SCHOOL
Marin, California

Containing classrooms as well as centers for music and art, the new building at the Marin Horizon School was of hybrid steel, wood, masonry and concrete construction. The cantilevered balcony allows for a column-free sports field area. The heavy masonry mass at one end is utilized to lend its lateral strength and stiffness to the long, light remainder of the structure, allowing for more versatility and openness in the façade design.
