This new, Modernist home of steel and concrete features exposed structural elements and materials. The fine detailing required close collaboration between architect, structural engineer and contractor. The steel and concrete structure allows for the graceful "floating" roof and extensive wall openings without compromising the seismic system. The house is founded on a mat slab that steps down with the site. The choice of structural solution was a crucial factor in attaining the architectural vision.
